The McMurdo SmartFind E8 is a 406 MHz Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon designed for maritime distress and search-and-rescue applications. It transmits emergency alerts through the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system and incorporates a 121.5 MHz homing transmitter to assist search and rescue teams during final localization.
