The McMurdo SmartFind G8 AIS is a GNSS-enabled Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) designed for maritime distress and search-and-rescue applications. It combines 406 MHz Cospas-Sarsat satellite alerting with an integrated AIS transmitter, multi-constellation GNSS positioning and a 121.5 MHz homing signal to support both global distress alerting and local recovery.
